Wow! Who doesn’t want to feel that way? The most common way to cultivate a pervasive feeling of gratitude is to keep a gratitude list – it will change your life! People who keep a gratitude list report feeling:

  • Alert, alive, and awake
  • More joy and pleasure
  • Increased optimism and happiness
  • Less lonely and isolated2
Writing Your List

When writing your gratitude list, use a full sentence for each item like, “I’m grateful for…” or “I’m grateful that…”

This allows you to put down a thought that is giving thanks as opposed to just listing things or people.

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart,
it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”
—  A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Try it yourself! Within only a few weeks, you will find that doing a regular gratitude list can actually change your entire perspective on life!
