Top Tips To Condition Your Hair!

How to Properly Condition Your Hair!

So all this time, you thought you’ve been conditioning your hair the right way. After all, what is there to do but put conditioner on your head, massage it through your hair and rinse. Right? Wrong! There actually is a proper way to condition your hair so you get maximum benefit and shining, lustrous hair. Let’s get to it!

  • Prepping Your Washed Hair: After you’ve rinsed out your shampoo, squeeze some of the water out of your hair before you condition your hair with Revitalize Conditioner.
  • Applying Conditioner: Add conditioner from the mid-lengths of your hair to the tips. You don't need to condition your hair at the roots because the natural oil from your scalp is more concentrated there; you don’t need it.
  • Let It Sit: If your hair is long, clip it up and finish showering. The longer the conditioner stays on your hair, the better it absorbs. Rinse out the conditioner as the final step in your shower.
  • Give Hair a Squeeze: Before you rinse, though, give your hair a few gentle squeezes since excess water dilutes your conditioner and prevents hair from soaking up moisturizing ingredients.
  • Bring On the Cold: This conditioning tip is important. Finish with a cold water rinse. Cold water will shut the cuticle tight, sealing the shingle-like outer layer. This will cause it to reflect the most light and shine.
  • Pick Products for Your Hair Type: Most importantly, be sure to select a shampoo and conditioner that are made especially for your hair type. If your hair is dry, choose moisturizing products like Renew Shampoo and Restore Leave-In Conditioner. If you color your hair, opt for color-safe formulas and extra special treatments, like masques such as Replenish Masque. Volumizing products are great for fine hair types; try Revive Shampoo and Revitalize Conditioner.

Work On Your Split Ends: We’ve all got them but now we can get rid of them with a product like REJUVABEADS™, which selectively targets and penetrates damaged hair and pulls split ends* together like magnets, mending them completely through a proprietary technology. Continued use leads to stronger, healthier, more flexible and resilient hair.

Remember, how often you wash your hair depends on your hair type. If you have oily or fine hair you may need to shampoo daily. Normal hair can probably be washed three times a week and dry to very dry hair can go 4 to 5 days to a week without washing.

By following these conditioning tips properly, you can now happily dry and style your hair, knowing your locks are ready to turn into shine and luster!

Top Hair Washing Hacks!

Try These Top Hair Washing Hacks!

How often have you just slapped shampoo on your hair, scrubbed and rinsed and thought your hair was clean? You may think you’re doing the right thing…but unfortunately that’s not the way to get sparkling clean hair. People who don’t wash their hair properly don’t get their hair truly clean so it ends up covered in a sort of film that leads to dullness and lack of shine over time.

Follow these hacks for washing your hair and you’ll make a genuine difference in hair health as well as its bounce, shininess and maximum luster.

  • Hair should be thoroughly wet before adding shampoo. Warm water will open the cuticle, which is good for removing any dirt or product trapped in the hair.
  • Condition first… sometimes: If you have long hair, condition it first. If your hair falls beneath your shoulders, protect its fragile ends from drying out and incurring more damage by running a small amount of conditioner like Revitalize Conditioner through them and lightly rinsing before any shampooing. This not only will keep ends healthy, it will fill any holes in the cuticle with moisture, making the hair smoother and enhancing shine.

  • A big mistake is using too much shampoo in the first place. Look at how much you’re using. Then cut that in half, to about the size of a quarter. That’s all you need! A shampoo like Renew Shampoo removes all the dirt and oil from you hair while holding onto essential oils and lipids you need to prevent dryness and breakage.
  • Don’t scrub too hard. Vigorously massaging shampoo roughs up the cuticle, causing frizz, flyaways and miniscule tangles. Don’t use circular motions, which can tangle your hair.
  • Lather from roots to ends. The hair closest to the scalp is the youngest and will be the oiliest while the end of the hair is the oldest and usually driest, most fragile part of the hair. First, rub the shampoo between your hands with a little water to emulsify it. Then gently massage the roots with your fingertips and run what’s left through the length of your hair. This is the first wash and known as external cleansing.

  • There’s a reason to shampoo your hair twice. The first wash removes excess dirt and grime. The second wash gets your hair squeaky clean. The second shampoo also is the time to really get your shampoo right into the roots and create a proper lather. The suds will run down the rest of your hair and get the mid-length to ends clean.
  • Get the shampoo fully out of your hair so your conditioner can do its tricks. A full two minutes of rinsing is recommended. Then gently squeeze the excess water out of your hair. Now you’re “conditioner ready!”
  • How often you wash your hair depends on your hair type. If you have oily or fine hair you may need to shampoo daily. Normal hair can probably be washed three times a week and dry to very dry hair can go 4 to 5 days to a week without washing.

A word of warning – skip the sulfates! Sulfates are detergents that give shampoo its foamy lather. But they strip skin of oil and dry out your hair. Sulfates also can strip hair of color. Shampoos without sulfates keep the cuticle tighter, which prevents color fading. Ignore them all together and use a shampoo without any harsh ingredients in it like Renew Shampoo or Revitalize Shampoo.

These hair washing hacks will have you on your way to a gorgeous mane. Stay tuned for next week when we talk about the best hacks for conditioning your hair!

Yay! It’s Summer!

Summer Hacks For The Best Summer Hair! Ready?

With Memorial Day just past us, the long-awaited days of summer are finally here! Shorts and loose tops or filmy sundresses are the standard ware. So bring on the picnics, barbecues, pool and beach! But before you start soaking up these days, are you equipped to care for your most prized possession – your hair? Here are some summer hacks to protect your hair from the sun’s rays, the humidity and heat, and chlorine and salt water.

First, cover up! Being outdoors in the hot sun can damage your hair. The sun’s heat drains moisture from your hair, leaving it dry, faded, and prone to breakage. Use a scarf or hat to provide extra UV protection, helps your scalp retain moisture and protect color-treated hair.

Be careful washing your hair too much. Summer heat and humidity causes excess sweat and greasiness. The temptation is to wash your hair more often. But some shampoos, especially those with sulfates, can have a drying effect, which is made worse by the hot sun. Use a sulfate-free shampoo, like Renew Shampoo, which will clean your hair and scalp without stripping natural oils, leaving you with clean and silky hair. You also can simply rinse your hair after a day at the beach or pool and then use a dry shampoo like The Champ Conditioning Dry Shampoo to get rid of any extra oiliness.

Cool the blow dryers and other heating tools! Blow dry your hair as infrequently as possible. And that goes for your hot iron and curling wand too. During the hot, sunny summer months, air dry your hair whenever possible and go au naturel if you can. Slightly messy hair is actually quite “in” during the summer. Go for effortless, beachy waves by washing or wetting your hair before bed, then piling it up in a bun or braid on top of your head. Finish it off the next morning with a spray like Tousled Texturizing Mist especially designed to give a beachy look.

Use a leave-in conditioner to protect your hair from sun damage. This is especially important for colored or highlighted hair. Find a leave-in conditioner with sunscreen to keep your hair from fading and to lock moisture in, adding volume and texture. Consider Restore Leave-In Conditioner.

Don’t forget to give special care to split ends! No matter how hard you try, you may still be plagued with split ends from a winter full of straightened, slicked back hair. Use a product that specifically cares for split ends, like REJUVABEADS™, which selectively targets and penetrates damaged hair and pulls split ends* together like magnets, mending them completely through a proprietary technology. Continued use leads to stronger, healthier, more flexible and resilient hair.

Keep your scalp and roots hydrated by drinking lots of water. Water is critical to every single cell, including those that contribute to hair growth and overall quality of hair. Eat healthy, including lots of omega-3 fatty acids, to keep your hair looking shiny and healthy, and drink plenty of fluids to keep your hair beautiful and lustrous.

Now kick back and enjoy yourself those long lazy, hazy days of summer!

Father’s Day Is Around The Corner

What Role Does Your Father Play In Your Life?

Fathers have a very special place in our hearts. If you’re a female, you might be “Daddy’s little girl” no matter how old you are. If you’re a male, your dad might be your biggest hero. But do we let our fathers know how much we love and treasure them often enough? Maybe you do…or, well, not as much as you’d like to. Well, Father’s Day gives everyone a reason to celebrate the father figure in their life, whether it be a dad, a stepdad, an uncle, a grandfather or even a great-grandfather.

While mothers usually tend to get the starring role in a family, research demonstrates that if a child’s father “is affectionate, supportive and involved, he can contribute greatly to a child’s cognitive, language and social development as well as academic achievement, a strong inner core resource, sense of well-being, good self-esteem and authenticity.”1

For example, girls will seek out in a future partner the attributes that their father held, like being nice, loving and kind. For boys, fathers serve as a role model and boys will look for their father’s approval in everything they do.2

Another point about the importance of good relationships with fathers? Girls tend to do better in math and boys tend to have better grades and perform better on achievement tests!3 Who knew?

But back to Father’s Day, which is around the corner. What are you giving your father? There are so many ideas. Depending on your dad, you may give a gift like a sports accessory, an electronic gadget, outdoor cooking supplies, tools or even a new fishing pole. Today, economists estimate that Americans spend more than $1 billion each year on Father’s Day gifts!4

In our search for a unique product unlike any other on the market, we began to meticulously engineer what has now become our signature blend. When it came down to buttoning up the formula for REJUVENIQE Oil Intensive, we chose Abyssinian Oil not only for it¹s remarkable rejuvenating properties, but also because of the way it is grown and processed. We are committed to ensuring our Abyssinian growers are using sustainable farming practices in their daily operations.

Where we source it from

We are committed to ensuring our Abyssinian growers are using sustainable farming practices in their daily operations. Farming these days is not a simple task, and many factors must be considered. All of our crops are grown on land with known, suitable cropping history and sustainable rotations with other crops. Abyssinian fields are identified and logged to provide a permanent record of previously grown and nurtured crops.

The production of healthy, viable Abyssinian relies on the planting of unmodified, high quality seeds. Through rigorous testing and evaluation, we select only the best hybrids available.

Oftentimes this method of producing multiple lots of seed allows us to personally choose the best seed available for producing the purest oil. We maintain and monitor all Abyssinian crops to ensure that there is no contamination with genetically modified organisms from other crops grown nearby.

How we’re giving back

Our production team is dedicated to moderating consumption of all natural resources through recycling, process improvements and innovations that minimize consumption while improving efficiency. We also give back a percentage of our profits to the farmers who grow and maintain our crops in the spirit of gratitude for our planet.
